Objectives

  • Coordination for key Year 4 objectives and response to the recommendations of the External Evaluation
  • Define the central goals/tasks for Year 5 and updating the SEACOOS Implementation Plan.
  • Define areas where OWG activities contribute to the Application Themes (points for discussion for the AT sessions on Wednesday) and cross-WG objectives.

Topics for Discussion

  1. Overview -- Year 4 OWG Objectives and Responses to the External Evaluation.
  2. Targets for Year 4 Systems Operations
    • Maintenance of existing in situ measurement systems
    • Maintenance of HF Radar systems
    • Continued generation of core satellite RS products (query tool development)
  3. Operational Assessment / Documentation
    • System descriptions (basic information on components from each partner)
    • Documenting requirements for operating components of the regional COOS
    • Documenting system performance
    • Updating the "Equipment Inventory" as a mechanism for keeping up with the regional system status and for tracking/assessing performance
  4. Further development of "Test Bed" functions
    • in situ measurements
    • HF Radar products
    • Satellite remote sensing products
    • supporting infrastructure
  5. Targets for regional analyses relevant to "Application Theme" areas and cross-WG functions
    • examples: coastal ocean circulation and fisheries oceanography applications; coordinated analyses of selected events;

    • documenting the SEACOOS experience as a pilot RCOOS
    • addressing the Application Theme areas
    • developing the vision for the next generation system
    • updating the Implementation Plan
